The hth differnece project
Question:
What is the relationship between challenging coursework (i.e. honors and/or AP classes) and college acceptance rates for HTH and Sweetwater Union students?
Why it's important:
Challenge Courseses, AP classes, honors, all this are opportunities given to everyone but not many use them. They help us improve in our abilities to learn, they help us improve in our skills of understanding, they help us get into the college of our choice. College of our choice, will we all be able to choose the university we want to attend? Should you take AP classes?
In my opinion, HTH students who take challenge courses in high school do really good/ or sometimes better than students who don’t. There are less students who take AP classes in other sweetwater high schools, and less students who go to college. If I take challenge courseses, will it help me?
Data:
Here you will see the data tables my team and I created.

Data:
Here you will see the data tables my team and I created.
Datatable 1
Students who went to a 4 or 2 years university and how many AP classes they took at HTHCV.
Datatable 2
Students who took # of Challenge Courseses at HTHCV.
Inforgraphics:
Graph 1 Graph 2
Graph 1 Graph 2
GRAPH 1: Students who went to a 4 year university.
GRAPH 2: Students who went to a 2 year univeristy.
GRAPH 2: Students who went to a 2 year univeristy.
GRAPH 3
GRAPH 3: Comparison of % of students who went to a 4-year and 2-year university.
Graph 4
Example of one of the tables in Datatable 2
% (Percent) of students who took n (either 0, 1-2, 3-5, 6+) amount of AP classes.
% (Percent) of students who took n (either 0, 1-2, 3-5, 6+) amount of AP classes.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the more honors classes a students takes the higher the probability of him/her getting into a 4 year or the college of their choice. Most students will take 3 to 5 honors/ challenge courseses and if more will probably go to a 4 year college. In High Tech High, they will most probably take 3-5, or 0 honors classes and LSE (Low Socioeconocmic) students will most probably take 6 challenge courses.
Honor classes will help you later on when you go to ccollege, please, do take them!

Reflection on Project:
From The HTH Difference Project we can take many things and put them in to practice. One of the things our teachers explained, and stayed in my head through out the project was what Mr. Carter would say, " Always be skeptical". We should always be skeptical about any graph or table-data we can have. The author can manipulate a graph to make it look the way they want to. The graph can say the opposite of what it really is, and you could belive it, only by viewing the way it is shown. Another takeaway I have from this project is, I should probably take honors in my next two years of highschool. Honors will help me improve and help me get into the college of my choice if I work hard. I mean, anyone can know this, but after studying about our project it motivated me to get more involved in this.
